Everything you need to get Biome up and running in minutes.

Getting Started

01

Download & Install

Download the Biome macOS app from the downloads section. Open the DMG, drag Biome to your Applications folder, and launch it. macOS may ask you to confirm opening the app — click Open.

Requirements: macOS 13 Ventura or later · Apple Silicon or Intel · ~100MB disk space

02

Create an Account

Click "Get Started" on the home page and create a free account with your email. You'll receive a confirmation email — click the link inside to verify your address. Then sign in from the app or website.

03

Configure Your Agent

On first launch, the setup wizard guides you through naming your agent, connecting your first data source, and enabling skills. The whole process takes under 5 minutes.

Core Features

Chat

The Chat panel lets you converse with your AI agent. Your agent has access to all enabled skills and data sources. Conversations are stored in session history — use the History panel to browse past chats.

Workflows

The Workflows view visualises your agent's skill graph and lets you build multi-step automations. Pan and zoom to explore. Click a category node to expand it and see individual skills. Click a skill node to enable or configure it inline.

Skills

Skills are capabilities your agent can use — web search, calendar access, code execution, and more. Enable skills from the Skills panel or from within the Workflows view. Some skills require an API key from a third-party provider.

Data Sources

Add URLs, documents, or service connections as data sources. Your agent reads and indexes them so it can reference your content in conversations. Data sources are private and never shared.

Connecting Your Google Account

From v1.4.1, the agent can read and act on your Gmail, Calendar, and Drive directly — no gcloud, no Google Cloud project, and no Gmail API setup required. The flow takes about 30 seconds:

  1. Open Settings → Integrations → Connect Google.
  2. Your default browser opens a Google sign-in page. Pick the account you want to connect and click Allow.
  3. The browser tab confirms "Google connected" and closes itself. The agent is now able to read your mail, calendar, and Drive on demand.

Once connected, ask the agent things like "what's my latest email?", "what meetings do I have this week?", or "summarise the latest doc in my Drive" — it'll fetch live data from Google and answer. To disconnect, return to Settings → Integrations and click Disconnect; Biome forgets your credentials and the agent loses access immediately.

About the macOS Keychain prompt

The first time you connect, macOS may briefly show a Keychain authorisation dialog so Biome can store your Google access token securely. This is expected — Keychain is the same secure store that protects your Wi-Fi passwords and Safari logins. Biome never sees your Google password; only a revocable access token.

Agent not responding

Make sure your API key is entered in Settings → Skills → Gemini (or whichever model you have enabled). The app requires an active internet connection.
